Seeking an experienced licensing specialist with deep expertise in IBM software licensing for a role in a large and technically complex IT environment. The role involves overall responsibility for reviewing, optimizing, and providing strategic advice regarding IBM licenses, focusing on compliance, efficient usage, and long-term management.
Main requirements:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IBM license terms, terminology, entitlement models, and regulations (current and previous versions).
  • Experience managing the full IBM audit process and acting as a liaison during audits.
  • Good understanding of Effective License Position (ELP), license optimization, compliance risks, and cost control strategies.
  • Practical experience with IBM BigFix and ILMT including exception handling, packaging, and traceability.
  • Ability to propose improvements for the organization's SAM processes and drive development of structures and workflows.
  • Knowledge of managing End-of-Life software and strategies for migration or decommissioning.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical specialists and business leaders.
  • Experience working in large IT environments where license management is a central part of IT governance.
  • Ability to train and transfer knowledge to internal teams following established methods and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct structured analyses and reviews of usage and rights related to IBM license models.
  • Recommend actions to reduce risks associated with overuse and non-compliance.
  • Establish and maintain an accurate and updated license base (ELP - Effective License Position).
  • Identify discrepancies and develop remediation plans to address them.
  • Support installation and configuration of tools like ILMT and IBM BigFix, including handling bundling and packaging.
  • Provide advice on data collection, analysis, and reporting related to IBM licensing.
  • Identify End-of-Life software and propose appropriate migration strategies.
  • Contribute to further development of internal roles and processes in collaboration with other IBM teams.
  • Train and support internal SAM functions aligned with established best practices.
  • Compile reports for management with insights, status updates, and recommendations at key milestones.
