Systems Engineer

Flightradar24 is seeking a talented and driven Systems Engineer proficient in system administration, private cloud, and automation to operate and develop their own infrastructure focusing on OpenStack and Kubernetes within a hybrid multi-cloud platform.
Main requirements:
  • Extensive professional experience in Linux system administration and operations, preferably on large-scale low latency systems
  • Hands-on experience with service orchestration, containerization, automation, scripting, and configuration management
  • Passion for high performance computing and infrastructure optimization
  • Networking experience including switch and firewall configuration and routing
  • AWS cloud experience (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, ECS/EKS) is a plus
  • Self-starter with strong project ownership
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written
  • Familiarity with BSD operating systems (FreeBSD and OpenBSD)
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and evolve system infrastructure based on private cloud and AWS/Azure services
  • Standardize and automate infrastructure provisioning via Infrastructure-as-Code, orchestration, and configuration management
  • Optimize reliability and performance of on-premise and cloud infrastructure
  • Support scaling of infrastructure and services to cloud platforms
  • Collaborate closely with developers to maintain high performance and reliability of live production platforms
  • Develop future private cloud solutions based on OpenStack, Ceph, and KVM with integration to public clouds
  • Work with technologies including Debian Linux, Ansible, Terraform, Docker, MySQL, Redis Cluster, RabbitMQ, Kafka, HAProxy, Nginx, Cloudflare, AWS, Azure, Datadog, Jenkins, Kubernetes
  • Develop tooling to replace existing SaaS solutions like Datadog
  • Minimize cloud dependency on hyperscalers such as AWS and Azure
Required hard skills:
  • Linux system administration (Debian preferred)
  • Service orchestration and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Scripting and automation
  • Networking fundamentals including BGP routing and firewall configuration
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure)
Recommended hard skills:
  • Experience with OpenStack, Ceph, KVM
  • Familiarity with FreeBSD and OpenBSD operating systems
  • Knowledge of databases and message brokers (MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
  • Experience with monitoring and CI/CD tools (Datadog, Jenkins)
