Umeå University is seeking a System Administrator for its University Services unit. The role involves supporting and developing security systems to increase safety with a focus on operational needs, improving processes and systems, and leading change with continuous improvements. Responsibilities include administration and development of security systems, supporting service operations, coordinating access requests, and providing second-line support to the security group.
Main requirements:
- Passionate about user-focused operational support and system development with an emphasis on security and operational perspective.
- Ability and willingness to improve work processes and systems to function optimally in daily operations.
- Experience in leading change and work with continuous improvements.
- Planning, developing, implementing, and operating operational security related to locks, access, and permissions according to the security function's assignment.
- Good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish and English.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and develop security systems supporting service operations and suppliers with access rights management.
- Coordinate and process inquiries regarding access requests through a shared mailbox.
- Provide second-line support to the security group and assist with their tasks.
- Administer the Integra and Serix access systems following routines and delegation (e.g., calendars, administrator users).
- Answer system administration questions.
- Administer client computers for the access system.
- Coordinate activities between systems, suppliers, security function, and internal departments.
- Inventory and coordinate needs, gather, prepare and analyze change activities.
- Monitor software changes and their consequences.
Required hard skills:
- Experience with Serix, Integra, SD+, Dynamics, or similar systems.
- Experience working with access control and permission systems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English.
Recommended hard skills:
- User support experience.
- System administration experience within universities or higher education.
