IT Specialist in IAM with Technical Curiosity and Security Focus

Join Karlstad Municipality's IT Department as an IT Specialist within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team, helping to develop and manage advanced IAM solutions with a focus on Zero Trust and user-centric identity management. Play a key role in shaping technology choices and strategic decisions in a dynamic and innovative municipal IT environment.
Main requirements:
  • University or college degree in computer or system sciences or equivalent experience
  • Several years of experience with technical system administration, identity management or similar
  • Strong communication skills in Swedish (spoken and written) and ability to understand technical English
  • Ability to work proactively to enhance IT security
  • Willingness to keep up with fast development and new technologies in IAM
  • Ability to collaborate within agile teams and with business units
  • Capacity to handle responsibility for rule management, documentation and processes
Responsibilities:
  • Daily operation and continuous improvement of identity and access services
  • Drive development projects in IAM from requirements to implementation
  • Strengthen IT security proactively within the environment
  • Implement new technology and capabilities collaboratively with the team
  • Maintain and ensure quality assured documentation and processes
  • Support and guide business units in using IAM services effectively
  • Collaborate with product owners to develop and realize management plans
  • Plan and execute work in an agile team environment
Required hard skills:
  • Experience in identity and access management or related technical system administration
  • Knowledge of IAM concepts like RBAC, PBAC, IDM, IGA, IDP, PAM, PIM, AM, SSO, MFA, directory services
  • Familiarity with identity lifecycle management and automation
  • Experience with audit, traceability and compliance in IAM
  • Good understanding of federated identity management
  • Experience with identity directories such as Active Directory, eDirectory, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
Recommended hard skills:
  • Experience with information architecture and information management
  • Experience with scripting or programming
  • Prior work in Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) and Identity Management (IDM)
  • Working knowledge of Zero Trust security concepts
Soft skills:
  • Strong communication skills in Swedish
