A researcher role at RISE focusing on the research and development of advanced fiber optic sensor system solutions, working on projects for industrial customers and public funding sources with a focus on applied research producing prototypes and hardware for industry evaluation.
Main requirements:
  • PhD or equivalent expertise in a relevant field
  • Several years of R&D work experience
  • Extensive experience in distributed fiber optic sensing, FBGs, DAS, photonics, and industrial implementation
  • Strong practical experience with fiber optics and/or photonics
  • Solid theoretical background
  • Good English communication skills, written and spoken
  • Customer oriented and able to translate needs into innovative solutions
  • Organized, self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and development of advanced fiber optic sensor system solutions
  • Deliver results in customer and publicly funded projects
  • Interact with external customers and partners
  • Write quotes and funding applications
  • Present research results internally and externally
  • Lead and participate in field trials
  • Lead or initiate research and innovation projects
  • Collaborate with researchers and experts in AI, signal processing, and application domains
  • Work closely with Fiberlab for tailored fiber-optic sensor solutions
Required hard skills:
  • Distributed fiber optic sensing methods (DAS, Raman etc.)
  • Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs)
  • Photonics
  • Industrial implementation of fiber optic sensing systems
  • Project management (preferable)
