Staff Scientist in Human-Robot Interaction

A staff scientist position at Umeå University within the Department of Computer Science focusing on human-robot interaction, AI reliability, and development of AI reliability models addressing fairness and safety, as part of the EU XSCAVE project.
Main requirements:
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering Physics with focus on data analysis, AI reliability or human-robot interaction.
- Practical experience in computer science.
- Strong English communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate factors that may undermine the reliability of data and models used in human-robot interaction.
- Develop and validate an AI reliability model addressing bias and ensuring safety for transparency.
- Collaborate with partners to improve the reliability model by mitigating risks related to large language models (LLMs).
- Disseminate research results through peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
Required hard skills:
- PhD-level expertise in relevant fields.
- Experience in data analysis and AI reliability.
- Ability to develop and validate AI models.
Recommended hard skills:
- Experience with AI-reliability topics such as fairness, privacy, explainability, or security.
- Experience with machine learning, causal inference, image processing, human-robot interaction, or large language models.
- Experience analyzing multimodal data (text, sensors, images, etc.).
