Senior Community Planner

An experienced strategic community planner to lead the project of developing Uppsala's new comprehensive plan. The role involves leading and coordinating the revision of the municipal comprehensive plan, managing strategic processes, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support sustainable urban development in Uppsala municipality.
Main requirements:
- University degree or equivalent in community planning or physical planning.
- Extensive experience with comprehensive planning.
- Ability to lead people, projects, and strategic processes in urban development.
- Understanding of the Planning and Building Act and different planning tools for strategic comprehensive plans.
- Understanding of community attractiveness and regional/national contexts.
- Strong networking and communication skills to engage citizens, employees, and stakeholders.
- Experience working in public administration and translating political governance into operational tasks.
- Strong skills in structuring, planning, prioritizing work, and analytical problem solving.
- Ability to initiate activities to drive results.
- Good listening and adaptable communication skills in text, speech, and visuals.
- Good collaboration skills and interpersonal sensitivity.
Responsibilities:
- Project lead and coordinate the ongoing revision of the municipal-wide comprehensive plan with the project leadership group.
- Lead and prepare the creation of the municipality's new digital comprehensive plan including accompanying goals, vision work, sustainability assessment, and planning materials.
- Work within a project organization including participants from the own department, urban development administration, relevant departments, and municipal companies.
- Engage in broad networks, collaborations, and dialogues with residents, businesses, and academia to support sustainable governance of Uppsala's future development.
Required hard skills:
- Knowledge of Planning and Building Act (Plan- och bygglagen).
- Experience with strategic and comprehensive community planning.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
