Join the Cart & Checkout team at Wolt Development Sverige AB as a Senior Backend Engineer. This role focuses on building and maintaining scalable, distributed backend services that enhance the order experience for over 40 million users across 30 countries. You'll work on key areas like basket management, cart review, checkout, and group orders, while also following SRE practices for tier 0 services. The position offers flexibility to work from tech hubs in Helsinki, Tallinn, Berlin, Stockholm, or remotely within these countries, with additional remote days abroad.
Main requirements:
  • Experience building massively scalable distributed backend services using Python
  • Familiarity with MongoDB and Postgres databases
  • Experience with internal gRPC services and Kafka
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes for service deployment
  • Ability to deliver modern, testable, and maintainable code
  • Willingness to work with Kotlin as part of technology stack (experience is a bonus, but open attitude is a must)

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the full order experience backend services including baskets management, cart review, checkout processes, group orders, and double orders
  • Ensure service reliability by following Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members including Frontend, iOS, Android engineers, QA, Data Analysts, Designers, Team Leads, and Product Leads
  • Participate in designing new features and improving existing ones
  • Contribute to an inclusive work environment fostering diversity and innovation
