An experienced 5G RAN system development engineer is sought for Combitech in Gothenburg. The role involves enhancing 5G network performance focusing on radio resource scheduling, link adaptation, time-critical communication, and antenna steering. Work includes design and specification of baseband algorithms, 5G network configuration, performance analysis and optimization.
Main requirements:
  • Relevant education such as MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Engineering or related Telecom fields.
  • Strong knowledge of communication theory and signal processing.
  • Good understanding of 3GPP communication systems including 3G, 4G, and especially 5G focusing on lower protocol layers.
  • Analytical mindset with capability to handle complex problems in the domain.
  • Dedication, self-drive, and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic programming skills in Python, C, Matlab or equivalent (preferable).
  • Ability to pass a security clearance including registry check due to defense confidentiality requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and improve 5G network performance related to radio resources such as scheduling, link adaptation, time-critical communication and antenna steering.
  • Design and specify baseband algorithms.
  • Configure 5G networks and perform analysis and optimization of performance.
  • Implement new features in base stations and lead feature execution.
  • Guide design and test teams through the development process.
  • Analyze system-level fault reports.
  • Participate in product development from idea to deployment with major global customers.
Required hard skills:
  • Knowledge of 3GPP communication systems (3G/4G/5G)
