Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Responsible for hands-on troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment in AWS data centers to ensure continuous and reliable cloud infrastructure.
Main requirements:
  • Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in Electrical/Mechanical field or equivalent training
  • Over 4 years of operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain highest safety standards and lead safety culture initiatives
  • Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment including UPS, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATS, generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, transformers
  • Troubleshoot events within internal SLA
  • Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Supervise contractors and other technicians
  • Drive continuous improvement through standardization and performance metrics
  • Provide training and guidance to technicians
  • Lead root cause analysis and mitigation strategies
Required hard skills:
  • Operational knowledge of electrical and mechanical data center equipment
  • Electrical/mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with equipment such as UPS, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATS, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC systems, exhaust fans, VFDs, transformers
Recommended hard skills:
  • Experience with Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS)
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Data center engineering experience
