System Administrator with Linux Focus

A role within the Swedish Armed Forces to maintain and develop secure, robust Linux-based IT systems supporting operational capabilities, requiring technical expertise, collaboration, and adherence to strict security policies.
Main requirements:
  • Relevant academic degree or equivalent knowledge as assessed by the employer
  • Current relevant work experience as a system administrator, system analyst, or equivalent, preferably in large organizations with complex IT systems
  • Several years of experience working with Linux platforms
  • Experience driving and implementing technical changes for IT systems
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Category B driving license
Responsibilities:
  • Actively and operationally perform maintenance and administration of Linux-based systems in close collaboration with application managers
  • Installation, scripting, system management, and documentation in a Linux environment
  • Ensure IT systems comply with the Swedish Armed Forces' regulations, primarily regarding availability and security
  • Develop, update, and maintain security policies for IT systems
Required hard skills:
  • Linux system administration
  • Scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
  • System installation and management
  • Knowledge of IT security standards and policies
  • Technical change management for IT systems
Recommended hard skills:
  • Experience with Bash and/or Python scripting
  • Knowledge of hypervisors, virtualization, and clustering
  • Experience with different types of containers and container orchestration
  • Server hardware configuration and dimensioning
  • Familiarity with industry security standards such as NIST, CIS
  • Experience working with KSF requirements or equivalent
