IT Technician

As an IT Technician within Delivery and Support at the Swedish Police Authority in Uppsala, you will provide second-line on-site IT support to end users, handle installation of technology, manage user equipment such as PCs, printers, audio and video conference equipment, telephony via MxOne, mobile telephony, and Rakel communication systems. The role involves administration of equipment, travel within the Northern/Central section and parts of the country, on-call duties, dispatcher work, and staffing the IT helpdesk. The position demands a structured, responsible, and service-minded individual who thrives in a varied workday with an agile and collaborative culture aimed at problem-solving and good service.
Main requirements:
- Completed upper secondary or post-secondary education or equivalent experience assessed as equivalent by the Police Authority
- At least 1 year of relevant recent work experience as an IT technician/on-site technician within the last 3 years
- Good knowledge of PC, printers, peripheral devices and network communication equipment
- Possession of a category B driving license and experience driving cars
- Ability to travel and stay at other locations for certain periods
- Good communication skills in Swedish, both verbal and written
- Swedish citizenship (required for employment)
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site IT support to end users within the Police Authority
- Install technical equipment in different assignments
- Manage user equipment such as PCs, printers, audio/video conference equipment, telephony (MxOne), mobile telephony and Rakel systems
- Administer equipment and its related systems
- Travel within Northern/Central sections and occasionally elsewhere in Sweden
- Perform on-call duties, dispatcher work and staff the IT helpdesk
- Handle physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and working in awkward positions
Required hard skills:
- Knowledge of PC hardware and software
- Knowledge of printers and peripheral equipment
- Experience with network communication equipment
- Valid B driving license and driving experience
- Fluency in Swedish (spoken and written)
Recommended hard skills:
- Knowledge of communication radio systems and Rakel and related equipment
- Experience with case management systems, e.g., Remedy ARS
- Knowledge of telephony and mobile telephony systems
- Experience with audio and video equipment
- Experience with Active Directory (AD)
- Experience with Cisco switches
