System Administrator with focus on IT Architecture

SMHI's infrastructure is undergoing a transformation to modernize and future-proof IT environments to meet tomorrow's demands. We seek an experienced system administrator with architectural ambitions to take broad technical responsibility and drive development forward. The role offers operational and strategic influence in a socially important organization.
Main requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in IT, systems science, computer engineering or equivalent experience
  • Several years of documented experience in IT infrastructure operations and system administration in complex environments
  • Experience participating in or leading strategic technical initiatives
  • Technical breadth with deep knowledge in one or more areas such as virtualization, container platforms or network virtualization
  • Comfortable in both Windows and Linux environments
  • Good understanding of networking and modern security strategies
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both IT and business stakeholders
  • Swedish citizenship and approved security clearance according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585)
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement modern infrastructure solutions focused on virtualization, container platforms and network virtualization
  • Develop further through DevOps principles and automation in operations, e.g., with Ansible, PowerShell or Python
  • Act as technical leader in the team, support colleagues, spread knowledge and coordinate cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Maintain and develop the technical roadmap closely with the architecture function
  • Enhance security in the IT infrastructure together with security specialists, focusing on IAM and segmentation
  • Participate as expert and advisor in procurements, requirement specifications and incident readiness
  • Provide advisory support to other technical areas and promote understanding of the IT environment
  • Participate in 24/7 operational readiness on the long term
Required hard skills:

  • Certifications or training in IT architecture, Unix/Linux, VMware, Kubernetes, OpenStack or related infrastructure and architecture areas
  • Experience from the public sector
  • Procurement experience according to Swedish Public Procurement Act (LOU)
  • Scripting or development experience in Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  • Experience with mission-critical environments
  • Experience working with IT infrastructure architecture
