We are looking for a Linux enthusiast to join the IT team at Linköping University where you will play a central role in building and managing robust IT solutions that support groundbreaking research and education for over 40,000 users. The role involves working with modern open-source tools, automation, and being part of a collaborative and innovative environment.
Main requirements:
  • Experience administering and developing Linux systems including installation, software configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of common programming languages such as C, C++, Java, C#, Python or Javascript.
  • Basic experience with Git or similar version control systems.
  • Very good command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Linux-based IT systems used in research and education.
  • Use automation and configuration management tools like Puppet and Foreman.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, educators, and education administration to deliver appropriate tools and support.
  • Work with advanced storage solutions using ZFS and Ceph.
  • Implement and manage virtualization using technologies such as KVM and libvirt.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation workflows using Python and Bash.
  • Monitor systems and visualize metrics using Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Engage in continuous learning and contribute to system development and technical improvement.
